Setting Social Media Goals in 2020

How to Set Social Media Goals in 2020

By Susan Friesen

Create the Most Effective Social Media Marketing Plan

There's a vast sea of social media information out there. Experts are everywhere and there are just so many opinions on best practices and tactics.

Not only that, but the platforms themselves are constantly changing, whether it's adding new features, increasing character limits or otherwise changing the rules.

That's why I've created this guide to help you understand how to set social media goals for 2020. This article is especially good for you if you've never taken stock of your marketing campaigns or created objectives.

Throughout this process, it's really important to be honest about your successes and failures. It's okay to admit that some of what you've done has been a wasted effort-that's why we're here.

Here's my 3-step process to set social media goals for 2020:

1. Check Your Reports

Keeping reports is a must if you want to properly assess the efficacy and efficiency of what you spent time sharing online. There are many ways to configure a report, but if you need direction and inspiration, Smartsheet has a free social media report template to get you started.

You need to learn to look past the number of impressions and understand how your content is really performing. Are people liking it, sharing it, commenting on it?

Pay close attention to metrics like engagement-this valuable info is like your potential leads all telling you what they liked or didn't. So take that into account when planning out 2020's content.

For instance, I make an effort to share valuable content daily on our Twitter account.

From Twitter to Facebook, each platform offers free analytics on the profile's performance, so use it!

This free reporting helps you see what you've shared that's worked well and what's fallen flat. Look for topics that visitors and followers have been consistently interested in, and share more of that content going forward.

If you're up to the challenge, you can do some paid promotion for your business. Remember, you can always contact us and let us manage the heavy lifting so you can focus on running your business.

We're constantly on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram. And, we stay on top of the latest trends and tips and love analyzing reports and stats!

2. Study Your Analytics

Yes, you want to look ahead, but it's necessary to look back as well. You can share content left and right, but unless it's leading visitors to your website, it's not serving its purpose. You want to drive people to your site, where they'll hopefully engage further and buy a product or service from you.

Google Analytics is a free tool provided by Google that is key to planning your social media in 2020. It shows you how your actions on social drive traffic to your business, broken down into lots of relevant stats.

To see these results, navigate to your Acquisition section for Social and then click on Network Referrals. You can select the previous year as the date range. Then, you should be able to see how many people have clicked on your posts and subsequently landed on your website.

Is social media marketing not working for you anymore?

Are you wondering what you should be changing in order to get better results?

In our Tea Time Tip: Marketing for Busy Entrepreneurs, I'm sharing 5 valuable tips so you can learn what's working, what's not and what you need to focus on more. Read more on our website.

3. Set Your Goals

The first two steps should give you an understanding of where you are, and now it's time to create your plan. You've got a great idea of what type of content worked, which platforms your target audience is hanging out on and where you should focus your efforts in the upcoming year.

Other things you need to do to reach your goals:

Track your month-to-month follower growth. If you're not gaining new followers throughout the year, you need to take a look at why that is.

Keep an eye on which seasons your content is most popular on a particular platform. For example, Pinterest trends show increased usage in the summer and around Christmas, with spring and fall seeing big dips.

Only share content that has value. You want to sell without driving people away. You also want to give people non-salesy resources like blogs, inspirational quotes, events-whatever makes sense for your brand and audience.

For example, I share articles, events and news on our company's LinkedIn account.

The biggest mistake you can make is to allow your marketing campaigns to become a chore, rather than a positive part of your business. When you're enjoying yourself, you'll find you share more engaging and interactive content.

When you set your goals to conquer social media in 2020, keep in mind that you may not attain all of them. That's not failure! As long as you're prepared with a solid social media marketing plan and what you're sharing is authentic and honest, then you're doing a great job!

Free eBook

By: James Byrd, MBA (Business Consultant)

Mark your calendar now. My book/calendar will help you understand upcoming days and generate less stress as to what a particular day in the past, present or the future will be like, or in essence, what will become an obvious reflection of what I keep calling, now-time.

My newest edition,  “The Future: 2020” is based on the first edition, (“Foretell the Future with the I Ching and My Calendar of Days.”) I just downsized the title somewhat and add more of my observations to be noted by my fans that have been following this project.

There is also an eBook coming out soon to accompany this new edition. On 8/2/2020, just that one-day folks, “The Future: 2020” will be free to you, send a request below. "Free Book"

Good Morning H-53

Hexagram 53

by James Byrd

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram fifty-three parallels that of self-development, or just plain old developmental change.  The situation is named Jian or infiltrating. Additional variations are just as I have noted, development, gradual progress, and advancement. The lower trigram is gen: bound or mountain. The upper trigram is xun: wind.

   1. Development, The maiden is given in marriage.
        Good fortune brings good fortune.
   2. Perseverance furthers.

B. The Image

  1. On the mountain, a tree.
      a) Now we can see the image of developmental growth.
      b) Thus, the superior man abides in dignity and virtue,

in order to improve the mores.

II. My interpretation

A. "Development"

Good day to get out there and exercise and enjoy the outdoors as it develops into spring. All-day we see progress in our right now evolving environment. We are now moving from the notion of hexagram fifty-three to that of hexagram fifty-four the marriageable maiden. But in this instant, we must quickly marry the young maiden, not so much in the next hexagram 54. We should be cultivating for the next phase when it comes to the hexagram that follows the current one, keynote marriage.

As we progress towards the goal of meeting spring mornings, let us not forget the people who fell out of formation during our yearly flights from the fall to spring again. The flight through the last couple of months of winter has been stop-and-go but we are at this successful point. Now is a good time to lighten the load on our old pack mules. Give a little, even if it's money, but giving a little of your time is more crucial. Just showing face brightens the day of a lot of people unaware of the effects of Qi, live it and give it. (Build it with Qi Gong. We must remember after nutrition comes -- development. that would be the guy who amass a great deal of objects and things, consumption. now there is a need for development. Qi Gong would be a great suggestion involving developing Qi. Updated -- 10-12-22)

Good Morning H-36

Hexagram 36

by James Byrd

I. The Oracle

A. Hexagram thirty-six is related to Diminishing of the Light, hence, retreating and hiding one's true intellectual position.

Another variation would be just as the Sun hides its brilliance at times, so should the Superior person during times of difficulties. Hence, it furthers one to be persevering. It can be said that the superior man lives with the great masses, yet he vails his light, still the same it shines.
   1. Now is not a good time to cross the great water. It furthers one to be persevering.
   2. Darkening of the Light:
With this we see the superior man managing others to the degree that he is somewhat proving his intelligence by keeping quiet about the situation he is in at the moment.

B. The Image

  1. The Sunset behind the Earth
      a) Keep to your course
      b) During these times, be aware of the difficulties ahead.

II. My interpretation

A. I remember a gigantic experience I have had during the observance of My Calendar of Days, and that was on February 15, 2013. I am speaking of that rock that landed on earth at that time. And we are still looking at that trend today 2-14-2020. It made me take notice that the calendar operates somewhat like that of the standard bell curve graph in statistics; anywhere near the peak one can expect a paralleling probability or a related effect that relates directly with the calendar given with "Foretell the Future with the I Ching and My Calendar of Days". In some books this hexagram relates to injury and will appear four times a year on My Calendar of Days; Feb. 14, July 17, August 7, and November 14. The way I see it, it falls at the start of spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

   1. The main idea is that at times it is best to take a back seat and enjoy the ride, but try not to be a backseat driver, so to speak. It is a time for you to submit to the dark principle, but do it to the tune of maintaining the personal principles you hold inside of you. In short, do not sit out on the tree limb and saw the log. Remember, that morals are just morals to people who profess them; across the board, those morals may not be the prevailing sentiments of all mankind at the current time, but thanks to the internet we are getting there, hence, innovative technologies. The hexagram maintains that a person should realize the situation they are in at the moment and maintain a firm steadiness to their beforehand planned course, or should I say, maintain your Inward Principles. The same can be seen with Hexagram 6, talking leads to conflict. Now we take six times six to a higher octave, and we see, "keep your fears to yourself." It is better to configure your innermost feelings in such a way that you might come across as being gentle and accepting of others, less, there will be compound conflict at the present moment.
Despite troubles within your heart, fix your will on extruding that which is righteous. Be agreeable in the face of immeasurable difficulties. So find a quiet place and wait it out. Three days before, and three days after the turmoil. We are at about top-dead-center right now. Low key it today folks.

44.mycal Temptation

Hexagram 44

By: James Byrd

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram forty-four is Gou, or Coupling. Variations are Coming to Meet and Meeting. Its lower trigram is Xun: ground or wind, and its upper trigram is Qian: force or heaven.

B. The Judgment

   1. Coming to Meet. The maiden is powerful.
   2. One should not marry such a maiden.

C. The Image

  1. Under heaven, wind:
      a) The image of Coming to Meet.
      b) Thus the prince act when disseminating his commands,

And proclaiming them to the four quarters of heaven.

II. My interpretation

A. "Liaison"

So close to valentine to be stuck with the idea of not trusting the fidelity of another person's love life.  A strong and non-subornative person, to touch such a person would prove wrong, in any relationship. That's what love is, an equal partnership with "The Divine" at the helm.

Although it feels like one is somewhat stuck, we need to pull ourselves forward because better days are on the way in. And as we move forward to meet upcoming days let us stay within the realms of probity possibilities and of good outcomes. Always remember most of the time you have to bow down to speak to people anyway, why not scale down to speak to the ones below your drift.

Remember, with this situational example, there is a warning about touching, especially the innocent who have not learned that and will further expound the wrong thing. To touch a person at any time is a sign of disrespect. Chi comes from the hands and Chi can be absorbed with the hands at any given time, it all depends. It's a two-way street. So, unwarranted touching could cause damage, at the checkout counter as well.

And remember that when it comes to common jesters towards the opposite end of the spectrum, always think "what would you not do?"

February Fifth ~ God's Daily Minute

February Fifth ~ God's Daily Minute

“Whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.  ” – Matt. 21:22 ~

Our Heavenly Father, gratefully we acknowledge Thy continued loving kindness in protecting us sleeping and waking, and in providing for our daily needs. Forbid that the regularity with which Thy mercies come should ever make us forgetful that they come from Thee. If Thou shouldst withhold a single one, we should plead for its renewal.
Help us to meditate upon Thyself—Thy majesty and power, Thy tender compassion, Thy grief at our sinfulness, Thy grace to help in our time of need. May every gift of Thine come as a messenger from the Throne, summoning us to deeper devotion in heart and life.
Above all, we thank Thee for the Son of Thy love, Thy most gracious Gift to men.
Help us to tread aright the unknown path of another day. Lead Thou us on. And at its close may we be able to look back thankfully that by Thy grace we have heard Thy voice and followed Thee. Guide us in our perplexities; restrain us in our joys; comfort us in our sorrows; guard us in our temptations; and forgive us all our sins; for the sake of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
