God's Daily Minute ~2-9-2020

February Ninth ~ God's Daily Minute

“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer.” – Isa. 65:24 ~

Our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for our home and our work and our friends. The morning calls us to the joy and toil and trial of a new day, and we want to begin in right, in the sense of Thy nearness and care.

Give us strength to meet the common duties of the day, and to live with our kindred and friends happily and helpfully. In our school life, in our home-making, and in our business, may we be guided by the purposes of Jesus. If it be Thy good will, keep us from great temptation to do wrong; and furnish us with strength for the trials which Thou willest us to endure.

May Thy healing and comfort abide with those we live, who are in sorrow and sickness; make them brave and hopeful.

We pray Thee to prosper us in our work, in order that we may use all our gains for the good of others.

May our home and family be the abiding place of Him Who promised to be in the midst of those who love Him. In His Name.   Amen.

by James Byrd

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 43 is Guai, or Parting. Additional interpretations include Breakthrough and resoluteness. The lower trigram is Qian: force or heaven. The upper trigram is Dui: open, swamp or forest.

   1. Breakthrough. One must resolutely make the matter known
At the court of the king.
   2. It must be announced truthfully. Danger.

It is necessary to notify one's own city.
   3. It does not further to resort to arms.
It furthers one to undertake something.

B. The Image

  1. The lake has risen up top heaven:
      a) The image of Breakthrough.
      b) Thus the superior man
           Dispenses riches downward
And refrains from resting on his virtue.

II. An interpretation Of Breakthrough

January Twenty-Eighth ~ God's Daily Minute

January Twenty-Eighth ~ God's Daily Minute

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within Thy gates, O Jerusalem. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. They prosper that love Thee. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek Thy good.” – Ps. 122: 1-2; 6; 9 ~

For Sunday Morning

O LORD, Jesus Christ, Who on this day didst arise from the grave, send forth Thy quickening Spirit, we beseech Thee, upon Thy people, that they may rise to newness of life. Drive away worldly cares, lift up our minds to high and noble thoughts, and to spiritual desires.

Hear the prayers of all that are offered in public and in private, for themselves and for their brethren. Grant that all who can may attend the public worship of Thy church, and approach Thee with reverence and confidence. Bless the ministrations of Thy Word and Sacraments. Inspire those who speak and act in Thy name, with the spirit of truth, and love, and power.

Meet the varied needs and fulfil the desires of Thy people. Bind us in fellowship one with another, as with Thy self. Enable us to go forth from the worship and instruction of Thy holy day with renewed strength and courage to perform the duties and bear the trials which are appointed for us.

Grant this, and all our petitions, for Thy Holy Name’s sake. Amen

I. The Oracle

A. Hexagram 29 is Kan or Gorge. Other interpretations include The Abysmal, Water and Repeated Entrapment. Its lower trigram is Kan: gorge or water, and so is its upper trigram.

   1. The Abysmal repeated.
   2. If you are sincere, you have success in your heart,

       And whatever you do Succeeds.

B. The Image

  1. Water flows on uninterruptedly and reaches its foal:
      a) The image of The Abysmal, repeated.
      b) Thus the superior man walks in lasting virtue
And carries on the business of teaching.

II. Another interpretation would be, The Abysmal.

--------------------------------------------------------------

“See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of them, for they will hand you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues; and you will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you at that time; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

—Matthew 10:16–20

“Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name.” – Ps. 105:1 ~

Dear heavenly Father, as we gather at Thy feet to-day as a family, we ask Thy blessing on our home and Thy guidance to each one during the hours of this day. Help us to realize Thy nearness to us at this hour. May we realize Thy reality, and be conscious of the fact that Thou art not a God afar off—the Great King of Heaven, the Mighty Judge of all the earth enthroned in infinite space above us, but that we can claim Thee as our Saviour and our Friend.

Help us throughout this day to realize that Thou canst be nearer to each one of us than the nearest and dearest of friends.

Let us hear Thy voice to-day. Let us feel the inspiration of Thy presence, and with willing feet enable us to walk in the path on which Thy light and blessing can fall.

Give us this day some work to do for others, some kindly word to speak, some helpful unselfish deed to fulfil in Thy Name. Be with us each and every hour of this day, and may we so live that Thy will may be done and Thy Kingdom come within our hearts.  Amen.

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 63 is Ji Ji, or Already Fording. Other interpretations are After Completion and Already Completed. Its lower trigram is Li: radiance or fire. Its upper trigram is Kan: gorge or water.

B. The Judgment

   1. After Completion. Success in small matters.
       Perseverance furthers.
   2. At the beginning good fortune.
       In the end disorder.

C. The Image

  1. Water over fire: the image of the condition
      In After Completion.
  2. Thus the superior man
      Takes thought of misfortune
And arms himself against it in advance.

II. Another interpretation

"Confucius/Legge: Progress and success in small matters, with advantage in firm correctness. The dynamic and magnetic lines are correctly arranged, each in its proper place. There has been good fortune in the beginning because the magnetic second line is in the center. In the end there is a cessation of effort, and disorder arises. The course that led to rule and order is now exhausted."

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 13 is Tong Ren or Concording People. Additional interpretations include Fellowship with Men and Gathering Men. the lower trigram is Li: radiance or fire. The upper trigram is Qian: force or heaven.

B. The Judgment

   1. Fellowship with Men in the open.
       Success.
   2. It furthers one to cross the great water.
The perseverance of the superior man furthers.

C. The Image

  1. Heaven together with fire:
The image of Fellowship with Men.
  2. Thus the superior man organizes the clans
      And makes distinctions between things.

II. My interpretation

A. "Fellowship"

With this hexagram, we see a man who for all apparent reasons joins in fellowship with others who are somewhat not of his kind. He does so because they are within close proximity to his dwelling. If he was to limit his friendship to that of his closes family ties, there would be cause for regret, being that his social adaptions would be somewhat limited in scope. To take it even further, to do so would be as the tale of “The Allegory of the Cave” by Plato, signifies. It is the story of a group of people in a cave, and not knowing what the real world is really all about, like unto an Amazon tribe out in the wildness but on a different scale.

It is the job of the superior man to know what is what and to point this out preferably to the people nearby first. To know more one must extend his or her range of knowledge of prominent current issues, not just homegrown knowledge, not to the tune of, we only use chopsticks.

In this passage, we see a call for universal brotherhood ill regardless of inconsistencies. To serve is to serve. Always extend service to the betterment of all into the one.
