John 16 verse 24 John 16:24 is a verse from the Bible where Jesus tells his followers, Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete" . It promises that by praying to the Father in Jesus's name, believers will receive what they ask for, leading to a fullness of joy. This verse follows Jesus's explanation that their present sorrow would turn into great joy after his resurrection . [ 1 , 2 , 3 ] Context : Jesus is speaking to his disciples before his crucifixion , explaining that their grief over his death will be temporary and will eventually turn into a greater, lasting joy.
