The Truth Behind the Smile

The Truth Behind the Smile

Bookmark and Share

Being able to read “nonverbal communication”—body language—is essential in business dealings. Problem is, we usually interpret a smile or lack of eye contact through an emotional screen, not a scientific one. Sometimes a smile is a sign of happiness—and sometimes it’s a flash of contempt. Here is what modern communications science has to say about the myths of body language. Learn More…

“25. Whenever two human beings spend time together, sooner or later they will probably irritate one another. This is true of best friends, married couples, parents and children, or teachers and students. The question is: How do they respond when friction occurs? There are four basic ways they can react:

• They can internalize the anger and send it downward into a memory bank that never forgets. This creates great pressure within and can even result in disease and other problems.
• They can pout and be rude without discussing the issues. This further irritates the other person and leaves him or her to draw his or her own conclusions about what the problem may be.
• They can blow up and try to hurt the other person. This causes the death of friendships, marriages, homes, and businesses.
• Or they can talk to one another about their feelings, being very careful not to attack the dignity and worth of the other person. This approach often leads to permanent and healthy relationships.”

God's Daily Minute

April Twenty-Eighth ~ God's Daily Minute

“Refoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thess. 5:16-23 ~

Create in us a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within us. Cast us not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit form us. We commend to Thy loving protection all those for whom we long to pray (especially those whom we now name in our hearts before thee ***).
Give to them all their heart’s desire, we pray Thee, in as far as Thou seest it best, for Jesus sake. Bring each of us, O Father, to the close of this day in peace and honor. For all those who love us so much better than we deserve, we thank Thee. For their sakes, help us to sanctify ourselves this day. And do Thou, O Lord, grant that we may abide steadfast in this purpose, and by Thy continual aid be fully master of all the desires and emotions of our hearts. For Jesus’ sake.  Amen

Improving Sleep Patterns

Improving Sleep Patterns
by Jim Byrd
One of the most eventual ways of improving sleep patterns is through either meditation or Yoga. And also, to get your day started right, try doing the Sun Salutation each and every day. And after that, any meditation method will work, try just intoning the word, OM to somewhat still the mind and focus only on visible air coming in and out of your nose at the moment. The key to developing quality sleep patterns is to stress down before and during awake hours. The same as don’t bring your work home from the job, the same principle, don’t take your stressors to bed with you.
It has also been shown in one study that the act of meditation can help students perform better in school and that study also shared the fact that Meditation lowers blood pressure.
Do something good for yourself, meditate before retiring at night as well.

In order to develop the process of forward-looking, one must do the research, interpret the data, and then act. These steps are very important when making that judgment call in terms of value migrations or what’s important to the person making the judgment call. The key in all cases when it comes to research and development of and use of judgment calls is to know into the idea of strategic agility. With this via research, we need to be able to see ahead clearly, develop a broad knowledge and perspective of the subject matter at hand, and as well as, be able to anticipate future consequences and trends as close as possible as being accurate.

The Pedometer

Bookmark and Share

By James Byrd

Can having a pedometer help with the, “get up and get it done syndrome.” It has been shown to help procrastinators, as shown by a study that when monitored, the effects of sedentary lifestyles of individuals who are less than over inspired to begin structured exercise programs. The pedometer is an incentive to get better. The thing with most humans is that they love to measure results. Now new technology with its Apps has it now that you can measure steps on daily, weekly and monthly bases. With this data, you will have a sense of why you are feeling somewhat better than a week or a day ago. Just looking at the chart within the Smart Bracelet App and maintaining that goal you set last week will cause an increase in health benefits and a decrease in health abnormalities.
As one began to get older there is a tendency to lax on the side of being more active during the run of a full day. Now with the Smart Bracelet, which you can also carry in your pocket, and still get good measurements, you can keep a somewhat accurate account of your daily activities via just walking around. With it, you will have more options than that of the regular pedometer. The more steps per day, the better you will sleep at night, which is another defining factor that will add a better quality of life to the aging population’s overall health benefits.
So in short, getting more exercise, with such things as low impact walking, and setting escalating goals, can result in overall improved mobility, better balance, and of course, better sleep patterns. I have noticed that there seems to be a direct correlation between the elements of exercise, and sleep quality. It has also been shown that better sleep patterns result in the magnitude of the overall “Telomere Length” in the aging population. “Get Up.”

“Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!”

The Four Noble Truths

Bookmark and Share

“The Buddha’s original teaching is essentially a matter of four points — the Four Noble Truths:
1. Anguish is everywhere.
2. We desire permanent existence of ourselves and for our loved ones, and we desire to prove ourselves independent of others and superior to them. These desires conflict with the way things are: nothing abides, and everything and everyone depends upon everything and everyone else. This conflict causes our anguish, and we project this anguish on those we meet.
3. Release from anguish comes with the personal acknowledgment and resolve: we are here together very briefly, so let us accept reality fully and take care of one another while we can.
4. This acknowledgement and resolve are realized by following the Eightfold Path: Right Views, Right Thinking, Right Speech, Right Conduct, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Recollection, and Right Meditation. Here “Right” means “correct” or “accurate” — in keeping with the reality of impermanence and interdependence.”
