Meditation's benefits. (update). - Free Online Library

There are a number of benefits associated with the consistent practice of meditation. If done after some type of meditative exercise such as Yoga or Qi gong, which should be done before the meditation session, because it will further enhance the effects of that particular meditation session, which follows. Remember, I said it must be practiced on a consistent basis, that is if the fruits of labor are expected to be acquired adequately. I can only see doing the Qi Gong and then the meditation once during early hours of the day. It would be even better to take ten minutes of stillness during or after lunch.

I remembered once during one of my elementary school classes, the teacher would tell the class after lunch to, "Put your head on your desk," I don’t know, maybe it was to better digest that most recent meal, or a meditation session to let go and digest what they had heard during the first part of the session, or maybe it was both. I think it betters one’s ability to further gather one's thoughts and aligns that person to his or her true path or Being in life, and also, that person moves towards becoming less tickled by outside forces. Meditation involves not so much the idea of self-programming, but more to the tune of enhancing ones “self-esteem.”

God's Daily Minute

June Second ~ God's Daily Minute

 “He that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass Him about.” – Ps. 32:10 ~

Our Father, in Whom we live and move and have our being, we thank Thee for Thy care, for our home, for our parents, and our friends. We thank Thee for the joy of salvation, for the health of body and vigor of mind, for the joy and delights of social intercourse. We thank Thee for Jesus Christ, for His sacrifice for us, and for the promise of eternal life through faith in Him.
Teach us, our Father, how to appreciate Thy love to us, Thy boundless care and Thy constant watchfulness. Indicate to us the things which Thou wouldst have us to do. Teach us how to live so as to bring joy and blessing into the lives of others. Give unto us the Holy Spirit, that we may know the true meaning of Thy Word, and how to do Thy will. Help us to watch and pray as we walk in the midst of temptation. Make us to abhor evil and to cleave only to what is good. Strengthen us in the day of adversity. Protect us from the snares of prosperity. Help us to do only the things which are pleasing to Thee. Hear us, O God, in this our prayer, for Jesus’ sake.  Amen

God's Daily Minute

April Twenty-Eighth ~ God's Daily Minute

 “Refoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thess. 5:16-23 ~

Create in us a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within us. Cast us not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit form us. We commend to Thy loving protection all those for whom we long to pray (especially those whom we now name in our hearts before thee ***).
Give to them all their heart’s desire, we pray Thee, in as far as Thou seest it best, for Jesus sake. Bring each of us, O Father, to the close of this day in peace and honor. For all those who love us so much better than we deserve, we thank Thee. For their sakes, help us to sanctify ourselves this day. And do Thou, O Lord, grant that we may abide steadfast in this purpose, and by Thy continual aid be fully master of all the desires and emotions of our hearts. For Jesus’ sake.  Amen

The Four Noble Truths

Bookmark and Share

“The Buddha’s original teaching is essentially a matter of four points — the Four Noble Truths:
1. Anguish is everywhere.
2. We desire permanent existence of ourselves and for our loved ones, and we desire to prove ourselves independent of others and superior to them. These desires conflict with the way things are: nothing abides, and everything and everyone depends upon everything and everyone else. This conflict causes our anguish, and we project this anguish on those we meet.
3. Release from anguish comes with the personal acknowledgment and resolve: we are here together very briefly, so let us accept reality fully and take care of one another while we can.
4. This acknowledgement and resolve are realized by following the Eightfold Path: Right Views, Right Thinking, Right Speech, Right Conduct, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Recollection, and Right Meditation. Here “Right” means “correct” or “accurate” — in keeping with the reality of impermanence and interdependence.”

The Donkey

When fishes flew and forests walked
And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born.

With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody
On all four-footed things.

The tattered outlaw of the earth,
Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,
I keep my secret still.

Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
And palms before my feet.”

God's Minute - Daily Prayers

 “For the Father Himself loveth you.” – John 17:26 ~

Our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the peace, the rest, the comfort of the night through which we have come. We surely have reason to be grateful for Thy increasing care. Thou art ever thinking of us, and we sleep in safety under the shadow of Thy protection presence. Now we enter upon the light and blessing of another day. May it be a clean day, a glad day, an undefiled day! May no dark, impure thoughts obtain possession of our hearts! May we have the grace to put away everything that is sinful and selfish and unworthy of Thee! Enable us to overcome every form of temptation. If moments of weakness, or weariness, or doubt come to us, may we have gracious help from Thee. In our business life, our home life, with our associates, with our friends, may we be thoughtful, tender, loving, generous, ever bearing in mind that we are to have the Spirit of our Divine Master “who went about doing good.” Teach us to be pitiful, to be kindly affectioned, to speak words of gentleness, and to remember especially the Wayward, the unfortunate, the sorrow-stricken. So fill us with Thy Spirit as to make us joyous, radiant, eager for service, anxious only to do Thy Will. We ask all these favors in the Name of Thy Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
