Judges 1:7 (KJV)

“And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.”

Meaning:

• Adonibezek was a Canaanite king defeated by the men of Judah.

• He admitted that he had previously mutilated 70 kings by cutting off their thumbs and big toes, a practice that symbolized humiliation and prevented them from effectively fighting.

• After his own thumbs and big toes were cut off, he recognized it as divine justice, saying that God had repaid him for what he had done to others.

• The verse illustrates the biblical theme of reaping what one sows—receiving consequences similar to one's actions.

Key lesson: Actions have consequences, and even Adonibezek acknowledged that his punishment mirrored the cruelty he had inflicted on others.
