Leadership-Signals ~ Judges 1:7
Judges 1:7 (KJV)
“And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.”
Meaning:
Adonibezek was a Canaanite king defeated by the men of Judah.
He admitted that he had previously mutilated 70 kings by cutting off their thumbs and big toes, a practice that symbolized humiliation and prevented them from effectively fighting.
After his own thumbs and big toes were cut off, he recognized it as divine justice, saying that God had repaid him for what he had done to others.
The verse illustrates the biblical theme of reaping what one sows—receiving consequences similar to one's actions.
