Mark 16:2–3, 6 and Hexagram 12 When Obstruction Gives Way to a New Beginning Mark 16:2–3 describes the women approaching Jesus’ tomb very early in the morning. Although they were faithfully moving toward their destination, they worried about the enormous stone blocking the entrance: “Who shall roll us away the stone?” In verse 6, their concern is answered with an unexpected announcement: “He is risen; he is not here.” ( Bible Gateway ) Hexagram 12 , commonly translated as Standstill, Stagnation, or Obstruction , describes a period when Heaven and Earth are not communicating. Positive influence appears blocked, relationships become unproductive, and the wise person protects personal integrity rather than wasting energy trying to force progress. ( I Ching Online ) Similarities 1. Both begin with an obstruction The stone represents an obvious physical barrier between the women and the place where Jesus had been laid.   Hexagram 12 – Standstill (Pi) By James Byrd I. The Oracle A. Understanding Hexagram Twelve Hexagram Twelve is called Pi , commonly translated as Standstill , Stagnation , or Obstruction . It represents a time when communication breaks down, progress slows, and the natural order between Heaven and Earth is disrupted. The structure of the hexagram explains the situation: Lower trigram: K’un — Earth — receptive, passive, yielding. Upper trigram: Ch’ien — Heaven — creative, strong, active. Normally, Heaven and Earth work together to produce life and growth. But in this hexagram, Heaven is above and moving upward, while Earth is below and sinking downward. The two forces move away from each other instead of interacting. The result is separation, stagnation, and standstill . This is why the ancient text says: “ The Great departs, the small approaches .” In other words, noble influences withdraw while lesser influences gain ground. B. The Judgment Standstill. Evil people do not fu...

Credit< H-12 > Hexagram 12 – The Energy of Standstill From The Future: 2027 By: James Byrd Energetic Theme: Withdrawal of Power | Preservation of Integrity Hexagram 12 marks a low-pressure system in the energetic year. It’s a time when external progress slows, and the environment becomes inhospitable to growth, innovation, or creative expansion. Think of it as winter in the cycle of spirit —where the seed lies dormant, not dead. The cold forces us inward. 1. Where Are We in the Cycle? If the I Ching’s flow is like an energy wheel, then Hexagram 12 is one of the resting points . It doesn’t signal failure—it signals a pause . Imagine the pendulum swung too far toward progress, and now it must swing back. This is the breath before the next push . In practical terms: Leaders may feel unheard. Visionaries may feel isolated. The environment may favor conformity over creativity. This is not the time to fight— this is the time to fast . Spiritually, emotionally, and soc...
