Bhagavad Gita 13:30

Transliteration:

Prakṛtyaiva ca karmāṇi
kriyamāṇāni sarvaśaḥ;
yaḥ paśyati tathātmānam
akartāraṁ sa paśyati.

Meaning:

The person who understands that all physical actions are performed through Prakriti—material nature, the body, mind, senses, and natural qualities—and that the true Self is not the doer, sees reality correctly.

Krishna is teaching the difference between:

• The body and mind, which act through nature.

• The eternal Self, which remains the silent witness.

• The ego, which mistakenly declares, “I alone am doing everything.”

This verse does not mean that we should avoid responsibility. Rather, we should perform our duties without pride, excessive attachment, or the belief that we completely control every outcome.

Spiritual lesson

When we recognize the Self as the peaceful observer, we become less disturbed by success, failure, praise, or blame. We can act faithfully while surrendering the results to God.

Reflection:
I will perform my duties sincerely, but I will not allow ego or attachment to control my inner peace.
